HiMSEN is a medium-speed engine brand developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). As the world’s largest engine manufacturer, HHI’s Engine & Machinery Division holds about 35% of the global large engine market. Based on the brand definition of “High-efficient, eco-friendly Medium Speed Engine,” we reestablished HiMSEN’s identity and built a brand identity system and design guidelines to ensure consistent communication in the global market.

The frame motif, expanded from the HiMSEN logotype, visualizes the flow of power generated by the engine and its circulation and expansion. This core design element embodies the brand’s technological philosophy and forward-looking energy vision. Furthermore, by combining the HiMSEN frame with a color system that reflects the characteristics of each business sector—red for power generation, blue for marine, and green for eco-friendly solutions—the brand clearly communicates both its product strength and specialized expertise across different fields.

Then… why bother with us

Although multiple directions were proposed, the final choice was confirmed based on a sketch drawn directly by the client. Naturally, opinions do not always align, and the process of negotiation can sometimes lead to even better outcomes, yet it would be untrue to say there was no sense of regret. The B-cut, which remained as a moment in the process, nonetheless carries meaningful traces of the thoughts and considerations behind it.
